About this tool
Paste a list of numbers to instantly get the count, sum, mean, median, mode, range, and standard deviation — the core descriptive statistics used to summarize a dataset without needing a spreadsheet or statistics software. Numbers can be separated by commas, spaces, or newlines.
What each statistic tells you
| Statistic | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Mean | The arithmetic average |
| Median | The middle value when sorted |
| Mode | The most frequently occurring value(s) |
| Std. dev. | How spread out the values are from the mean |
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate population or sample standard deviation?
Population standard deviation (dividing by N, the count of values). Sample standard deviation, which divides by N−1, will be very slightly larger for the same dataset — use this tool's result directly if you're treating your numbers as the entire population.
What happens if there's a tie for the most frequent value?
All tied values are shown as the mode — for example, a dataset with two numbers each appearing most often will show both as the mode, rather than picking one arbitrarily.
