Text ↔ Binary / Hex Converter
Convert text to binary or hexadecimal, and back to text.

About this tool
Under the hood, text is just a sequence of bytes, and those bytes can be represented as binary (base 2) or hexadecimal (base 16) instead of readable characters — useful for low-level debugging, understanding character encoding, or educational purposes. This tool converts text to space-separated 8-bit binary or 2-digit hex bytes (using UTF-8 encoding), and back again.
Sample byte representations of 'A' (UTF-8)
| Format | Value |
|---|---|
| Text | A |
| Decimal | 65 |
| Binary | 01000001 |
| Hex | 41 |
Frequently asked questions
Which text encoding does this use?
UTF-8 — the dominant encoding on the modern web. ASCII characters map to a single byte, while characters outside the basic ASCII range (accents, emoji, etc.) are represented as multiple bytes.
Why does converting some hex/binary back to text fail?
If the byte sequence doesn't form valid UTF-8 (for example, an odd number of hex digits, or a byte value outside 0–255), it can't be decoded back into text and the tool will show an error.
