Title Case vs. Sentence Case
Title Case capitalizes the important words in a heading or title while usually leaving short connecting words lowercase. For example:
The Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the Lazy Dog
Sentence case is designed for normal prose. It capitalizes the beginning of each sentence while the remaining words are generally lowercase unless they are already preserved terms or proper names:
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Use Title Case for headings and titles. Use Sentence case for paragraphs, captions, descriptions, and other ordinary writing.
camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and kebab-case
Developer naming styles remove or replace spaces so text can be used as identifiers, URLs, classes, file names, or database fields.
- camelCase joins words without spaces and starts with a lowercase letter: myProjectName
- PascalCase joins words and capitalizes every word: MyProjectName
- snake_case joins words with underscores: my_project_name
- kebab-case joins words with hyphens: my-project-name
- CONSTANT_CASE uses uppercase words separated by underscores: MY_PROJECT_NAME
- dot.case joins words with periods: my.project.name
The converter normalizes spaces, hyphens, underscores, and camelCase word boundaries before creating these developer-friendly formats.
Case Conversion Example
Input:
customer order status
Outputs:
- UPPERCASE → CUSTOMER ORDER STATUS
- lowercase → customer order status
- Title Case → Customer Order Status
- Sentence case → Customer order status
- camelCase → customerOrderStatus
- PascalCase → CustomerOrderStatus
- snake_case → customer_order_status
- kebab-case → customer-order-status
- CONSTANT_CASE → CUSTOMER_ORDER_STATUS
This makes it easy to reuse the same wording across headings, code, URLs, database fields, and configuration values.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert lowercase text to uppercase?
Paste or type the text into the input box and copy the UPPERCASE result. The conversion updates automatically.
How do I change all caps to lowercase?
Paste the all-caps text and copy the lowercase result.
What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalized Case?
Title Case keeps many short connecting words such as “the”, “and”, and “of” lowercase when appropriate. Capitalized Case simply starts every word with a capital letter.
What is camelCase used for?
camelCase is commonly used for variable and function names in languages such as JavaScript and Java. It removes spaces and capitalizes each word after the first.
What is snake_case used for?
snake_case separates words with underscores and is common in Python, Ruby, database columns, file names, and configuration values.
Can this converter handle mixed text such as foo_barBaz-qux?
Yes. Developer case conversions split common separators and camelCase boundaries before rebuilding the text in the selected format.
Is my text uploaded or stored?
No. The conversion runs locally in your browser.
I need a URL slug, not just kebab-case text. Is that the same thing?
kebab-case is close, but the Slug Generator also handles stop words, Unicode, length limits, and batch titles for permalinks.
