About this tool

Text copied from PDFs, Word documents, or web pages often carries invisible baggage — trailing spaces, repeated blank lines, tabs mixed with spaces — that can break formatting or cause diffs to show false changes. This tool trims each line, collapses repeated spaces and blank lines, and optionally converts tabs to spaces, all independently toggleable.

Frequently asked questions

Why would extra whitespace cause problems in code?

Trailing whitespace and mixed tabs/spaces can trigger linter warnings, cause noisy git diffs (where a line shows as changed even though only whitespace differs), and in whitespace-sensitive languages like Python or YAML, can break the code outright.

Will this remove intentional blank lines I want to keep?

“Collapse blank lines” only reduces 3+ consecutive blank lines down to a single blank line — it won't remove single intentional blank lines used to separate paragraphs or sections.

Can I also change the capitalization of my text here?

Not directly — clean up whitespace here, then use the Case Converter if you also need to change capitalization or naming style.

How do I remove repeated lines after cleaning spacing?

Use the Duplicate Line Remover to keep unique lines, optionally ignore case or extra spaces, and preserve or sort the result.
